Technical writer

Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Writer who will be responsible for VyOS documentation portal as well as for the Knowledge Base. The specialist will create, maintain, and improve our documentation to ensure clarity and usability for our users. Important in this role is an ability to evaluate and analyze complex information and a natural desire to help people understand it.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards
• Evaluate current content and develop methods for improvement
• Gain deep understanding of VyOS product and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content
• Write user-friendly documentation that meets the needs of target audience, turning insights into language for user success
   

Requirements

Skills

• Writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter
• Solid understanding of technical writing principles and the ability to work collaboratively with our development team
• Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Passion for clear communication and technical details
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or a relevant technical field
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Experience

• 3+ or more years of experience as an effective technical writer
• Experience with Sphinx and Docusaurus documentation management frameworks
• Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience, refine content, and create visuals and videos for technical content
• Markdown and XML tools to create documentation
• Firm understanding of Software Development lifecycle
• Highly desired technical background and analytical mindset, experience as QA, System Administrator, Support engineer
• Highly desired some background in networking technologies and Linux
   

Work Conditions and Compensation

Fully Remote Work: This 100% remote position allows you to work anywhere.

Flexible Work Schedule: We offer a flexible work schedule that allows you to manage your time while ensuring effective collaboration across our globally distributed teams. The official workday starts between 8 AM and 11 AM (employee local time) and ends between 5 PM and 8 PM (employee local time). While flexibility is encouraged, occasional work outside typical hours may be required to align with colleagues in different time zones. Open communication and availability for cross-time-zone meetings are essential for seamless teamwork.

Time Tracking: Employees are required to use time tracker software to monitor working hours and productivity.

Vacation: Enjoy 20 days of annual paid vacation

National Holidays: You are entitled to up to 10 days of paid leave for recognized national holidays.

Sick Leave: Sick leave is provided in accordance with company policy
