Position: Content Writer – Curriculum & Instructional Design
Location: Remote (India-based preferred)
Engagement: Part-time/Project-based (3–6 months)
Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

We’re looking for a curious and capable Content Writer to support the development of engaging, accessible, and learner-friendly content for our TEL (Technology-Enabled Learning) curriculum. The role will involve working with lesson plans and activity briefs to write structured, clear, and compelling educational content for students from Grades 6 to 12, particularly in low-resource or government school contexts.

The ideal candidate has a balance of strong writing skills, an understanding of digital pedagogy, and the ability to use simple tools (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, AI tools, etc.) to structure and visualize content for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write learner-friendly lesson content, facilitator notes, activity instructions, and reflection questions.

  • Work from lesson plans and curriculum outlines to translate ideas into well-structured modules.

  • Design and develop engaging, printable student handouts and lessons with:

    • Warm-up activities,

    • Step-by-step explanations,

    • Practice tasks or games,

    • Visual flow (using tables, icons, or diagrams).

  • Rewrite or simplify complex technical or educational content for low-English proficiency students.

  • Collaborate with the core team to revise and improve content structure and pedagogy.

  • Use AI tools (like ChatGPT) for brainstorming, rewriting, and editing where appropriate.

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong command of English writing and content simplification.

  • Ability to design well-structured lesson documents using Google Docs (3–4 pages per lesson).

  • Experience writing or designing for Grades 9–12, preferably in low-resource contexts.

  • Empathy for and understanding of how to engage first-generation learners through examples, analogies, and visual design.

  • Proficiency in using:

    • Google Docs (for layout, tables, icons, etc.)

    • Basic visual structuring tools (tables, shapes, bullet layouts)

    • AI writing assistants (like ChatGPT) for brainstorming and editing

    • Optional: familiarity with Canva or other basic design tools

Good-to-Have

  • Background in instructional design, curriculum development, or pedagogy.

  • Familiarity with Indian schooling systems (especially government schools).

  • Ability to visualize learning flows and create simple learner activities or visuals.

  • Punjabi Language knowledge.
