Primary Purpose:
The Communications Manager supports the planning, coordination and execution of CSD’s communications and marketing strategy to support business aims, support the uptake of our varieties and demonstrate our role in the community. This role’s primary responsibility is for managing key internal and external communication channels and strategically developing content to support these channels and our customers. The role uses a customer or user experience lens to guide their work and influence others.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- To observe all work, health and safety, environmental and quality programs, policies and procedures developed to meet the intent of the WHS, Environmental and Quality policies.
- Contribute to the development and conduct the rollout of Corporate Affairs and Communications strategies and policies for CSD’s stakeholders and customers – both internal and external.
- Produce and disseminate information through appropriate channels in line with CSD’s strategy – both for internal and external audiences.
- Manage the maintenance, governance and continuous improvement of CSD channels.
- Contribute to research into stakeholder perceptions and the image of the organisation to achieve and maintain a positive reputation for CSD.
- Contribute to development and implementation of crisis management strategies to alleviate crisis situations and maintain positive reputation.
- Advise supervisor and leadership on key strategic communications and uphold a positive image and reputation for the organsiation.
- Be a part of the regular monitor, reporting and feedback loops to continuously improve CSD’s communications.
- Assist and create, where necessary, content to meet CSD’s agronomic, industry and corporate communications needs, including the design and preparation of key documents.

- Any other task as required from time to time by CSD CEO or Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience in communications role. Good understanding of communication channels and how to use them strategically to connect with our customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, providing the ability to liaise with employees at all levels, all external stakeholders and the media.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to work under pressure with a large degree of initiative and autonomy.
- Dedicated and proactive disposition with the ability to work within different team environments when required.
- Ability to identify communications and be proactive with the team to identify solutions.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as act on own initiative, work unsupervised, effectively prioritise workload and problem solve.
- A strong safety focus and concern for the health and wellbeing of yourself and your work colleagues.
- Following all Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Method Statements, Work Task Procedures and the CSD Employee Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrate the application of continuous improvement processes.
- The physical capabilities and mental aptitude to undertake the inherent tasks of the role.
Highly Desirable:
- Vocational or Tertiary qualifications in a related field with 5 years plus experience.
