The Digital Content Developer plays a crucial role in modernising education by creating dynamic learning materials that engage students and enhance their learning experience in our online environment. This role leverages a blend of skills, including writing/editing, instructional design, and technology proficiency to build course content that is rigorous, effective, engaging, and error-free.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop, write, and edit educational content, including interactive textbooks, lesson plans, quizzes, and instructional guides.
2. Collaborate with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other teams to ensure content is accurate and relevant and adheres to project requirements and academic standards.
3. Tailor content to accommodate different learning styles, audiences, and educational platforms.
4. Review and proofread content to ensure it meets academic standards and is error-free.
5. Revise content based on feedback from stakeholders and students.
6. Ensure all course room elements are optimized for student learning.
Job Skills:
• Strong skills in writing and editing educational materials required. Academic publication background or experience with digital textbook authoring is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with digital tools and platforms used in academic content creation is required. LMS/Canvas experience is preferred. Experience with design elements and patterns to modernize the course room is highly desirable. Familiarity with coding/coding tools (HTML5, Javascript, SQL, H5P) and/or AI prompt writing is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with instructional design and curriculum development for adult learners; work experience and/or educational background in instructional design is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills required for collaborating with stakeholders at all levels. Previous experience completing projects with cross-functional teams strongly preferred.
• Ability to remain calm, focused and detail-oriented in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Work Experience:
1-2 years of related experience, preferably in an adult learning environment.
Education:
A bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is required; a master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Other:
• Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 – 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 – 10%).
• Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
• If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
